About Us:
Hanin Collection is a collective volunteer group dedicated to maintaining and preserving tangible records of Korean-American history. Volunteers collect the tangible materials in their area and photograph/scan, organize, and file them into a digital archive on this website for public viewing.
Through our work, we hope bring members of the Korean-American communities together by showing appreciation of the history of Korean-Americans through our collection.
Our History:
To celebrate a 100 years of Korean-American history, high school students in Orange County, California began research of local Korean-American history back in 2024.
Coming across the Charles Kim Collection held at the USC Special Collections Library, the students began to organize material collected and donated by Charles by taking trips to USC every summer.
WANT TO CONTRIBUTE?
1. OUTREACH
Reach out to members of the Korean-American community, inviting them to contribute to preserving Korean-American history by donating articles and documents that highlight moments in history.
2. SCAN & ORGANIZE
Collect, scan, and organize documents and articles gathered from members of the Korean-American community.
3. UPLOAD & ARCHIVE
Upload files into a digital archive for public access and viewing, making sure to credit the person who have contributed to the files.
